ISSP UL scientist's article decorates a cover of  the Physica Status Solidi B!

Latvia hosts the leader of the largest scientific programme in the Europe

On December 13-14, 2018, Tony Donné, EUROfusion programme manager, will arrive in Latvia to visit the state officials and project executives. During his visit, T. Donné will meet with the President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) Ojārs Spārītis, the rector of the University of Latvia Indriķis Muižnieks, visit the Academic Centre of University of Latvia, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia (ISSP UL).

European Commission officer and reviewers visited ISSP UL!

The Research Executive Agency of the European Commission organised review of our institute’s largest project CAMART² on October 25 – 26, 2018. The objectives of the review were to assess the progress of the work plan, all deliverables completed, the objectives still relevant, resources planned and spent appropriately and other qualitative and quantitative indicators that are crucial to successful project implementation.

Physical Review Letters article by J. Timoshenko, A. Anspoks, A. Cintins, A. Kuzmin, J. Purans, A.I. Frenkel "Neural network approach for characterizing structural transformations by x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy", 120, 225502 (2018), DOI: 10.1103 has been recognized as one of the best scieentific papers where experiments are performed in the ELETTRA synchrotron.

International Conference on Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies – FM& NT – 2018

The 12th International Scientific Conference 'Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies – FM&NT-2018' will be held on October 2-5, in Radisson Blu Latvia Conference & Spa Hotel. The event is organized by the Institute of Solid State Physics of University of Latvia (ISSP UL). The aim of the scientific conference FM&NT-2018 is to promote international co-operation in the fields of science, education and innovative business, stimulating research of various materials and technologies, which in future could become high-added value products and devices.

Results of Deep Science Hackathon 2018 hosted at ISSP UL

The bracelet in which an optical sensor is embedded for measuring the vitamin D in the human organism. In the competition of eight ideas, the jury found this idea to be the most mature to be implemented as a business project. Deep Science Hackathon 2018 was organised by the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) and was the first activity within Materize, which is the new platform of the Institute for the export of scientific services and cooperation with industry in the field of high technologies.

Materize - new brand of the Institute of Solid State Physics, UL for the cooperation with the industry will be presented during Deep Science Hackathon

In order to promote export of scientific services in the area of innovative materials based technologies and cooperation with the industry, on 18 May at 18:00, Institute of Solid State Physics, UL (ISSP UL) will present its new brand Materize. During the event, start will be given also for it’s first activity – Deep Science Hackathon.

Brokerage Event: H2020, FP9 and Nordic-Baltic Network

The Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) and State Education Development Agency`s (SEDA) Horizon 2020 National Contact Point will organize a brokerage event on Horizon 2020, FP9 and Nordic-Baltic Network possibilities in the ISSP UL 2nd floor conference hall, 8 Kengaraga street, Riga, on June 6th, 2018.
