CAMART² team joins presidential visit to Hamburg

On February 21-25, 2019, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis visited Germany to promote cooperation between Latvia and Germany in business and science. The purpose of the visit was to present the opportunities offered by Latvia in the areas of smart cities, smart materials, biomedicine and robotics, for which German businessmen and scientists showed great interest and desire to develop further cooperation.

The Shadow Day at the ISSP UL!

On February 13, 2019 the Junior Achievement Career Education Program – Shadow Day – for school children from grade 1st to 12th took place. In this day children attending a chosen job place and watching a daily work of the certain profession. In this year our institute’s staff were shadowed by 19 inquisitive young persons from grade 3 to 11, who followed every step of the Institute's Lead Researchers, Researchers, Research Assistant, Clean Room development and maintenance specialist, and Scientific secretary. 

Kick-off meeting of the Eurofusion enabling research project AETA

Today (18.01.2019) at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) the kick-off meeting of the EUROfusion program enabling research project “Advanced experimental and discovery of defect evolution and structural disordering in optical and dielectric materials for fusion applications – AETA” was held.

The visit of the Programme Manager of EUROfusion European consortium Tony Donné to Latvia has started

Today (13.12.18) programme manager of the EUROFusion European consortium Tony Donné has started his visit to Latvia by meeting the president of  the Latvian Academy of Sciences Ojārs Spārītis and by giving a lecture on the Status and prospects of European Fusion Research. T. Donné also met the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science Līga Lejiņa, Rector of the University of Latvia Indriķis Muižnieks to converse about funding and successful further cooperation as well as visited the Academic Center of the University of Latvia.
