Leading researcher from ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Organic Materials, Kaspars Pudžs, guest researcher Bejan Hamawandi visited the KTH’s Department of Applied Physics at Albanova University Center and the Division of Electronic and Embedded Systems in Kista, Stockholm, from January 20-21, 2025. The visit aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange on thermoelectric materials with Professor Muhammet Toprak and his research group.
The visit included a comprehensive tour of the labs, showcasing equipment and ongoing research projects. Faculty and students presented their current thermoelectric materials research, highlighting recent advancements and challenges. Discussions focused on potential collaborative projects encompassing material synthesis, characterization, device optimization, 3D printing, and simulations. Collaboration opportunities regarding supercapacitors and the use of Maxen for low-contact resistance wiring in device fabrication were also explored with Dr. Jiantong Li. The capabilities of the available measurement equipment were thoroughly explained.
The ISSP UL researchers discussed seeking funding from European and Swedish scientific organizations. Current research at the ISSP UL, specifically the work on thermoelectric materials and devices – was presented. Sample exchange was undertaken to facilitate future collaborations. Furthermore, research opportunities at the ISSP UL, including XPS and EXAFS measurements, high-resolution SEM microscopy, and COMSOL-based computer modeling, were presented and generated significant interest from both departments.
The visit proved highly productive, establishing new collaborations and strengthening international connections within the thermoelectric materials research community. This exchange of knowledge and ideas will significantly contribute to advancing research and innovation in this field.
