ISSP UL’s scientific seminar with the participation of CAMART2 partners from KTH and RISE

On November 16, a two-hour scientific seminar, “Energetics – harvesting, storage, and sustainable use”, gathered 50 participants. The seminar was a hybrid event - participants could attend it at the ISSP UL conference room and join in online.

After some introductory words from the Deputy Director for Science of the ISSP UL, Dr. habil. phys. Andris Šternbergs, the ground was given to the researchers Dr. phys. Aivars Vembris and Dr. phys. Kaspars Pudžs from ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Organic Materials and Dr. phys. Mārtiņš Rutkis from the ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Spectroscopy. The scientists presented their research, “Energy harvesting and sources (solar cells, thermoelectricity, nuclear*) and sustainable use (OLEDs)”.

Scientists from the ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Materials for Energy Harvesting and Storage, Dr. phys. Gints Kučinskis, Dr.chem. Gunārs Bajārs, Mg. Pēteris Lesničenoks and from ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Chemical Technologies Asoc. Prof. Dr. chem. Guntars Vaivars presented their research, “Electrochemical energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen)”.

The third presentation was from the Professor of Materials Chemistry at KTH Muhammet Toprak. His presentation was called “Thermoelectric material developments and aims for pursuing further device developments”.

The scientific presentations were followed by suggestions and recommendations from partner institutions RISE and KTH. Among the online participants were Prof. Jiantong Li, Prof. Qin Wang and others.

After each of the presentations, there was Q&A time, and at the end of the seminar - a brief discussion about the seminar’s program and more.
