The ISSP UL to participate in the Physics Festival

The Physics Festival of Latvia will take place on April 15 in Riga. The event aims to show the exciting side of both physics and other exact sciences in an engaging, intriguing, and practical way. This year, the event returns to an in-person format and will take place for the third time after a few-year due to pandemic restrictions. The goal of JSC "Latvenergo", the organizer of the festival and the FIZMIX competition, is to draw young people’s attention to STEM education and to award the most talented students in Latvia. During the festival, the FIZMIX competition semifinals and finals will take place where the most erudite teams of school students will participate.

The festival will start at 11:00 and will continue until 17:00. The activities will be divided into different zones - parallel to the events on the main stage, the EXPO zone will operate, where research stations and experiments will be held by organizations, educational institutions, science centers related to physics and other exact sciences, including the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia.

The event’s activities will be adapted to audiences of different ages - students and teachers, families with children and any physics enthusiasts. There will also be outdoor activities and catering areas. This year, the theme of the FIZMIX Experiment competition and the festival is future energy. At the event, participants will be able to learn how knowledge of physics helps create a sustainable future.
