The sales manager from ISSP UL’s Materize platform, Olga Bogdanova, participated in the Hydrogen Summit & Expo held in Tampere, Finland, from January 22 – 23. This essential gathering highlighted the crucial role of academic research in optimizing the hydrogen market. The current growth of the hydrogen economy faces challenges, particularly due to the inflexibility of the electricity market. At the core of this economy lies the sustainable use of materials, as existing consumption levels strain the planet’s carrying capacity. Transitioning to a hydrogen economy necessitates innovative approaches to material and energy utilization, emphasizing efficiency and the principles of a circular economy.
The expansion of the hydrogen economy presents significant business opportunities for both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporations. Stakeholders in both the private and public sectors are increasingly seeking innovations that minimize material and energy consumption while enhancing operational efficiency.
During the summit, various industry participants were engaged in discussions about ongoing projects. Notably, ISSP UL and Materize explored potential involvement in various procurements and projects, particularly those with extended implementation timelines. A fruitful private meeting was also held with Henrik Gronqvist, Global Director at Andritz Environment and Energy.
Furthermore, the event facilitated the establishment of closer collaborations with Business Finland OY, paving the way for future partnerships. Olga also connected with representatives from AFRY Finland, Schaeffler Finland, the Central Finland Mobility Foundation, Tampere University, and the H2 LV organization, among others, fostering a network of collaboration within the hydrogen sector.
